I’ve been listening to this band for about 6 months now. They grew on me fast because of their rapping. I didn’t realize how much rap this band does until I listened to their CD “Want”. It has a lot of electronica with fast repetitive beats, making it easy to jam out to.
They have a single out now (Don’t Trust Me) , but here are 3 songs that are not really known – so you may not like them.
I told Bethany a few years ago that I’m not a fan of girl lead-singers in bands. For some reason it just turned me off – this was during my Linkin Park era.
Now, there are a least 3 bands that I like listening to, all having girls as the lead vocals. I don’t want to get to ahead of myself and say I like them. I can tolerate a small handful of songs by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This is one of them.
Found this wicked video of xxcobhcxx, from YouTube doing an a capella version of Knights of Cydonia. I’ve been a huge fan of Muse for 3-4 years now. I absolutely love remakes and remixes of tracks from any of my favorite bands. It’s always so cool to hear someone else interpret a song.
Drake is an up-and-coming artist that started as an actor. Aubrey Graham (Drake is his rapper stage name) was on the tv series Degrassi, on the-n. He played Jimmy Brooks, who:
Came to Marco’s side when Marco was assaulted by gay bashers
Shot by Rick; lost the use of his legs
Learned that Spinner was involved in the shooting; alienated him
Gave up athletics to explore drawing and painting
Lost his GF Hazel after bonding with Ellie over art
Tried to take it to the next level with Ellie. Didn’t happen.
Learned he’d have to repeat senior year because of time missed in the hospital
Rekindled with Ashley
Forgave Spinner and started a T-shirt biz w/ him
Recorded a rap for Ashley’s song, but she deleted the track
Met Trina at the clinic; broke up with Ashley
Made plans to have stem cell surgery
(thanks the-n)
Some would say that he’s just a good rapper because he used to be on TV. I beg the differ. He is extremely talented with his lyrics and baseline. He recently went on tour with Lil’ Wayne after signing to his record label, Young Money Records. At the end of July, while on tour, performing his hit song Best I Ever Had, his knee gave out on him. He has been dealing with ACL problems for a while and the doctor didn’t clear him for the show. He ended up tearing his ACL, MCL and LCL in that fall.
Seriously? Is he trying to really be Jimmy Brookes? Stuck in a wheelchair?
Drake has turned down a $2 million dollar deal Atlantic to be signed with Lil’ Wayne. And most recently, he turned down Kanye West who wanted to redo the music video for Best I Ever Had. This kid has some guts to do that. I mean, Kanye is crazy, but its Kanye, anything he touches in gold. I wonder what Kanye would do to a church hymn.
A few weeks ago, I heard the new Eminem single “the Warning” on the radio. I’m usually addicted to 107.7 the End, but lately I’ve been digging the Hip-Hop/R&B realm again. I was really surprised to hear a new Eminem song, but was more surprised to hear that he was actually dissing Mariah Carey.
The back story:
Apparently, Carey denies having a six month relationship with Eminem. Eminem claimed he has voice mails and photos but never gave in into giving them up and showing the media. She doesn’t want to admit to a relationship because she is a diva and he is a white rapper from Detroit. In Carey’s recent music video “Obsessed” she dresses up as Eminem to mock him. Eminem does nothing to reply. Then Carey mocks him at a recent award show. Again, Eminem does nothing. Until now.
I’m going to try to start something here. Every Monday, I want to try to have something posted about a song or artist. Let’s be cliche and called it “Music Monday.”
This Music Monday is going to be “Muse Music Monday.” I received an e-mail from a friend regarding Muse’s new album The Resistance, which comes out in September. She said there are a few tracks already leaked, but the official one “Uprising” was available for download. I then received a text from 107.7 The End radio station saying the world premiere was at 11 AM. The song has only been our for an hour now.
The track is, okay, I guess. I’m a pretty big fan of them so I expect a lot. I think over time though, I will warm up to it. I am looking forward to more tracking being leaked/released.
